cFocus Software seeks a Technical Advisor to join our program supporting the United States Air Force (USAF). This position is on-site in Linthicum Heights, MD. This position requires an Active TS/SCI clearance.
Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • B.S. Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Experience evaluating enterprise IT solutions and advising stakeholders on technical strategy.
  • Broad knowledge of infrastructure, applications, cloud and hybrid environments, data integration, and cybersecurity.
  • Ability to translate mission requirements into technical alternatives and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience developing engineering trade studies, feasibility assessments, and technical risk analyses.
  • Ability to evaluate technical debt, lifecycle costs, build/buy options, and modernization priorities.
  • Understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, configuration management, and secure systems integration.
  • Working knowledge of RMF, authorization boundaries, and security requirements for mission systems.
  • Strong analytical, technical writing, briefing, and stakeholder coordination skills
Duties:
  • Analyze mission priorities and incoming IT and cybersecurity requirements; identify technical needs, dependencies, constraints, and gaps for stakeholder resolution.
  • Advise on enterprise IT architecture, cloud computing strategy, and enterprise data strategy in alignment with DC3 priorities and approved standards.
  • Assess existing systems and proposed solutions for feasibility, interoperability, security, maintainability, scalability, and operational impact.
  • Support technical evaluations of data-layer interoperability with designated DoD mission partner architectures and systems of record.
  • Develop engineering trade studies comparing Refactor, Replatform, Replace, and Retire alternatives before legacy architecture changes, including Total Cost of Ownership models.
  • Conduct cost-benefit and build/buy analyses to inform resource allocation, acquisition strategies, portfolio priorities, and investment decisions.
  • Assess technical debt in code architecture, obsolete infrastructure, security compliance gaps, and data schemas; contribute to the Enterprise Technical Debt Register.
  • Recommend modernization priorities and transition approaches; support remediation planning and approved execution through modular DevSecOps sprints.
  • Review technical designs and integration approaches across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments; document risks, assumptions, and tradeoffs.
  • Advise on CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, security guardrails, and configuration management practices supporting repeatable delivery.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity specialists on Zero Trust alignment, authorization boundaries, RMF controls, and technical evidence supporting ATO and continuous ATO.
  • Research emerging technologies and cybersecurity best practices; present benefits, risks, prerequisites, and implementation recommendations for Government consideration.
  • Evaluate proposed AI capabilities and use cases with relevant specialists; support research and testing before Government-approved adoption.
  • Support enterprise evolution roadmaps, lifecycle planning, resilience, and recovery reviews; coordinate technical dependencies with project and operations teams.
  • Prepare technical assessments, decision briefs, recommendations, and stakeholder presentations; facilitate collaboration with internal and external mission partners.
