Job Description: Security Engineer IV (Windows Systems)
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016–2022), ensuring reliability, security, and optimal performance.
- Administer and optimize Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services, and Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC).
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced PowerShell and PowerCLI scripts to automate system administration tasks and enhance functionality.
- Implement and manage disaster recovery and backup strategies, including hybrid cloud solutions such as CommVault Metallic Backups.
- Perform administration, patching, and deployment of updates and upgrades across Windows 10/11 desktops and Windows Servers in both physical and virtual environments.
- Provide detailed documentation for system designs, configurations, processes, and service records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT infrastructure projects and deliver expert technical leadership.
- Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on best practices and technical problem solving.
- Support 24/7/365 on-call operations as required to ensure system availability and rapid incident response.
- Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity, performance, and throughput issues.
- Analyze system development and implementation requirements, preparing modifications and specifications as needed.
- Ensure compliance with security frameworks and standards, including CIS Controls, NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5, and DISA STIGs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Windows System Administration and Information Security.
- Proven expertise with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, Certificate Services, and Windows Server Failover Clustering.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 in enterprise environments.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerShell and PowerCLI scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of hybrid backup and disaster recovery solutions such as CommVault Metallic Backups.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team in high-pressure environments.
- Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including after-hours support.
- Current Microsoft certifications such as: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate, and Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (or equivalent, current/recent version).
